Actually, the regular flavor Tabasco sauce has about 35 MG of sodium per teaspoon. The other flavors have even more. However, Capsicum has been shown to lower blood pressure, so a little Tabasco probably won't hurt.

I found that drinking 12 oz. of low sodium V-8 juice in the morning and 12 oz. at night can help lower blood pressure. The low sodium V-8 has more potassium than the regular sodium V-8 juice.

I also drink 24 oz of calcium fortified orange juice per day which gives me a full day supply of calcium.

Getting the proper amounts of Potassium, magnesium, and calcium really does help lower blood pressure along with reducing sodium intake to 1500 MG per day or less.

1000 I.U. per day of vitamin D is also not a bad idea, along with exercise (30 minutes of brisk walking is great) , and learning how to deal with stress. A good book I read is the blood pressure cure by Robert E. Kowalski.

Also worth noting, as I experienced a similar situation, that if you have big upper arms then they should use the bigger cuff size. If the blood pressure cuff is the regular size, it cannot expand enough to get an accurate reading and so reads as a false high!
