I’d like to see outdoor sports covered. Cayaking, hiking, canoeing, etc. I’m afraid to try it so maybe an article can nudge me alone.

Hi, Shayla and thanks for commenting! You’re in luck – we’ve got guides to hiking in hot weather, kayaking, and more here: http://www.fatgirlsguidetoliving.com/category/getting-out-there/

I’ll add canoeing to the list of guides we’ll do in the future.

Are you comfortable sharing what scares you about spending time outdoors? Maybe we should do a guide on overcoming fears about trying new things like this!

  3. Workout bras! Water sports! Clothing swaps! :)

Ok, wow, i’m interested in all those things. Especially surfing. I read an article once about a plus size surfing teacher in San Diego and have been dreaming about going there to learn. I have the big questions like will i be able to get myself up off the board. And the weird questions like, whenever I play in the ocean my eyes get super irritated and is that something surfers get used to?

what i really want to know is WHY why does the fashion industry punish plus sized women? we are told that the worst thing to wear is horizontal stripes when you’re a big girl. so what is 80% of the clothes in the plus sized areas? and why are the clothes all so frumpy (maybe i’m shopping in the wrong place)? they look like clothes that my grandma would have worn in 1960. i’m tired of not having decent clothes to wear that help build my self-esteem and give me confidence.

yes i know there is layne bryant and avenue, but i’m talking about clothes that i can really afford in this horrible recession time.

someone really needs to design clothes for us .. and not a size 14 model Emme who has never seen this size of size 18 or 20.

    fashion / sex / cooking / surfing/ sky diving / backpacking / career stuff.

    love your blog!

  8. Cyndy says:

I agree with susan, sex in particular. There’s nothing more embarrassing than trying something new, like a position, and having there be too much of you to make it work! So what are the best ones?

  9. Tee says:

GREAT ideas here! Keep them coming, our wheels are definitely turning.

  10. Michelle says:

So… I’m just wondering aloud here… am I the only small-chested fat girl?

  11. Toni says:

    Michelle: Nope! :)

  12. Michelle says:

Well then where the hell are they? ;)

  13. Toni says:

Oh you did not just go there.

  14. Michelle says:

Oh, but I did girlfriend. Do you know how many fabulous tops I’ve had to pass on because it appears the common assumption is that if you need “plus size” clothing you must have a rack to match?

  15. Toni says:

We will definitely cover this in a post – when your top doesn’t match your bottom. Even when I was thinner, I’d often have to buy a top smaller than my bottom. And I’m a B cup now; was an A before.

  16. HollyLuz says:

Ok, Michelle, this is the first topic i was going to touch on, but then i saw most of the topic were sports based… ugh! thanks for bringing it up. Bras are so difficult for me to find because when i get a 42B there is so much room in that bra that I don’t need any carryon luggage. I can just store my phone, wallet and blanket in there. And there seems to be no such thing as an A cup in that size. Blegh!

  17. Toni says:

hollyluz, Michelle – you guys have me curious. I’ll start working on a guide for bras and tops for small-chested fat girls.

  18. Tee says:

Great topic, ladies. I love our readers… lots of GMTA.

  19. Becky says:

Horseback riding for sure! Mainly, how much weight can a horse safely carry? This is a hobby I’ve wanted to get into for awhile. Flying would be good too. Which carriers are more fat-friendly?

    Love the site! =)

Plus Size Halloween Costumes! I have spent the past hour searching online for one. They are either really trashy looking or completely hideous. Please, help!!!
