Stuff We Love: White Stag Woman

When it comes to economy plus-size fashion, White Stag gets it

Me: cozy and comfy in my White Stag turtleneck sweater

If you’re like me, you have well-worn go-to pieces in your wardrobe for everyday living. Stuff that never fails to meet at the junction of looking good, feeling comfortable, and being just valuable enough to feel great in it, without being so valuable that you’re afraid to wear it out.

I have three favorite pieces like that, and two of those are White Stag Woman: my cotton “business casual” pants, and my ribbed cotton turtleneck sweater. Here’s why I love ‘em:

1. I’ve had the pants for almost three years, and the sweater for two. Neither has shrunk, lost its shape, pilled, faded, unraveled, ripped/split, stretched out or otherwise failed me.

2. Stains and dirt have come out/off quickly and easily with both.

3. Both are form fitting with a tailored feel (a standout in a world of boxy, shapeless plus-size clothing), but without being snug in the wrong places. I feel shapely and feminine and touchable when I wear them. The fabric is soft without being flimsy, and knows how to hide the parts I want most to hide.

4. Both pieces are impressively slimming, and make me look and feel about a size smaller (the turtleneck sweater in the photo above is a 2x).

5. Both pieces were under $20 at Walmart.

The bad news: they’re not always easy to find. It’s hit-and-miss to find them at Walmart, some stores carry a wide range and others nothing at all, and their online store only carries a small selection. A search on eBay only yields about 35 pieces. (An aside: am I the only one who loathes the way plus-size clothes hang on a hanger?)

But these are worth seeking out and waiting for, so keep your eye out for them. Next time you come across a White Stag Woman piece at Walmart, shopping eBay or even a garage sale, you can be sure you’re getting a plus-size brand that looks great, feels great and holds up to everyday use for years.

Can’t get White Stag plus size clothing anymore! WalMart stopped carrying them and I have searched the web fruitlessly!
    :-(

I know! I’m in desperate need of a few new pairs of pants in the 18/20 size range and have looked and looked myself…nothing. I’ll post here if I find anything.

  4. I just wrote Walmart at Nasty asking why they stopped caring White Stag! I love their brand – good quality, good fit and good price. What happened did White Stag go out of business? Please post IF ANYONE finds a store that carries this brand.

    Dolores,

I just saw some White Stag Woman tees at my local Walmart. I really think it’s hit or miss. Perhaps you might try calling stores in your area to see if any are still carrying this line?

Help! I really need to replace some of my White Stag pants – I’ve literally worn them out! As a 5-foot fattie, I’d personally like to shoot both the person who invented cropped pants, and the person who decided that those were the ONLY pants that plus sized people wanted to wear! As short as I am, cropped pants end up being “high waters” on me. Nothing is flattering hitting right above the ankle!!! I want my White Stag pants back.

I too just wrote a complaint to Walmart about not carrying White Stag jeans anymore. They are the best for us plus size women for sure. When I couldn’t find them in the stores anymore I started ordering them online from Walmart but they are no longer available there either.I have tried many other brands fron lots of stores but none fit or wear like the White Stag.

I bought white stag pants from walmart (white) 2010. Needed them for work. When I went back and bought the same pants this spring they had changed the waist band to a smaller band and the pants were much thinner material.Loved the last year pants, just can’t find them any where. They were cotten and have pockets and no pleats in front.Does anyone have any Info.?

Absolutely agree! I -loved- the empire waisted White Stag cotton summer dresses that were available at Wal-Mart. They had fun prints and the material was so comfortable. I can’t find them anywhere now except by chance at a yard sale or a thrift shop. My mistake was not buying the entire rack of those dresses when Wal-Mart did carry them. The ones that I do own still are in perfect shape to this day.
