This is so helpful & encouraging! I just came across this website today & I feel so much more relieved. I'm going on the Norwegian Jewel next Saturday for a 7-day cruise. Not only am I overweight, I had an accident 6 weeks ago & I'm off my feet. I have to be in a wheelchair for long distances, but can use a walker for short distances. I feel like I will stand out not only because of my weight, but because of my temporary disability as well. It's nice to know that the onboard staff will be accommodating. Thank you for this article!

I'm so happy to have found your posts. I will be going on my first cruise in Feb, 11 and have been worried about being very plus-sized on the trip. I wish there were more articles or forums on this subject! This past Feb my husband and I went to Disney world (my first time) and if it wasn't for a website I found saying what rides I would comfortably fit in, I would never have relaxed enough to enjoy it. Turns out, armed with lots of info I had a blast! I guess that's what I'm looking for for cruise info. If you know of any websites where large people discuss their cruise experiences, I think I'd calm down a bit. I guess I just want to know there will be other people my size on the ship, in a bathing suit, etc. By the way, I'm 5'6 and weigh 330 lbs. Any feedback you can give me would be appreciated!!

This was very helpful, thank you. I'm looking at a potential cruise with my mother, who will face some of these issues and this was helpful, especially since the Jewel is one of the ships we have seriously considered. One thing I noticed: Depending on when you cruise I think you can get some of the lower priced suites for a decent price and they do have a bathtub on the Jewel, so they don't have to be the highest priced. Also, on Holland America, a oceanview room comes with a bathtub.

Thanks again. If you have any more specific input on the Jewel you'd like to share or email me with, that'd be great too.

Thank you so much for taking the time to write this two-part guide. My hubby and I will be taking a cruise and I have been anxious about being a bigger gal on a cruise ship! I was mainly worried about the chairs on our balcony, how tight the room and shower might be, and all those potentially embarrassing situations that somehow seem to occur when you're a plus-sized traveler. This will help!!
